te Pa wins 'Master' award at Global Pinot Noir Masters competition

  • by Mikela Dennison

Proving once again that there's so much more to world class Marlborough wines than Sauvignon Blanc, we are proud to have won the title of 'Master' for our te Pa 2021 Pinot Noir, in the Drinks Business Global Pinot Noir Masters competition.

Our wine took out the only Master title in the £15 - 20 category, and was the only Pinot Noir from New Zealand to win the title across all price categories.

We're also delighted that our te Pa 2019 Signature Series Pinot Noir won Silver in the same £15 - 20 category. Available through Tesco UK, this wine has become hugely popular since launching in late 2020. Find the wine online via Tesco UK here.

And closing out a trifecta of medal wins in the competition, our gorgeous new release 2021 Montford Estate Pinot Noir was awarded a respectable Bronze medal in the £15 - 20 category.

The Global Masters competitions are scrupulously judged, and in recent years have become a fixture on the global wine show scene.

The judges commented that New Zealand was among the top performing producer countries in the competition, which is a nice acknowledgement of the quality and style of our nation's Pinot Noir expressions.

Check out how the competition is judged, and how a wine producer scores a 'Master' title:

"All Masters competition are judged blind, and we have been honoured to have some of the finest palates in the world acting as judges: our panels comprise solely of Masters of Wine, Master Sommeliers and senior buyers.

...those expressions that stood out as being outstanding in their field received the ultimate accolade – the title of Pinot Noir Master."
