te Pā Sauvignon Blanc Oke (2019)
Shipping New Zealand wide
A Sauvignon Blanc for Chardonnay lovers, and one of our most critically acclaimed wines, the Oke is a sublime wine for those who appreciate a special drop.
Brand New 2019 Release
Aromatically the wine gives impressions of oyster shells, citrus blossom, and dried herbs, all supported by lightly smoked oak with a hint of flint and vanilla pod.
The palate is equally as complex and generous. Poached pear and melon are balanced by fennel and lime driven citrus. The oak provides a savoury foil to the wine; salted caramel and vanilla notes combined with marzipan and spice.
This wine is a celebration of Marlborough and is perfectly suited to fresh seafood and light poultry dishes.

Decanter Magazine, January 2024:
"For Oke (‘a Sauvignon Blanc for Chardonnay lovers’), grapes come from the home vineyard in Lower Wairau (60%) and the Redwood Hills Vineyard in Awatere, fermented and aged on lees in barrel for 11 months. Roger Jones: Perfumed nose then into a luxurious style of Sauvignon. Clean, focused stone fruit – nectarines with a delicate bouquet of herbs and green vegetables. White nutty notes. Freddy Bulmer: Inviting pure fruit character, well-used oak. The acidity holds everything together and provides focus. I’d like a little more on the finish, but this is very smart. Cat Lomax: Waxy, pithy, savoury nose, toast and hazelnut hints. Fleshy citrus supported by some spice and more hazelnut; a creamy, rounded texture. Fresh acidity."
Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews says of the 2019 Oke:
"Bright, pale yellow with some depth with a slight green hue, even colour throughout. The nose is gently full and elegantly presented, poised aromas of smoky flint lead subtle nuts and buttered toast nuances, underlying citrus and tropical fruit direction. Full-bodied, the palate is bright with multilayered aromas of fresh lemon, lime, mango and guava, followed by a dusting of white spice, then linger with toast, nuts and crusty baguette. The mouthfeel is refined, dusty phenolics contribute to an opulent texture; the barrel-fermented details of flint, nut and toast are well-proportioned, enriched the sweet, pure expression of fruit. This is an elegant, age-worthy Sauvignon Blanc with pure fruit and well-portioned barrel-fermented complexity and structure. Match with nut-crumbed grouper and baked camembert over the next 5-8 years. Handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented in 320L French Cigar barrels to 13.5% alc, aged on full lees for 11 months." (96 Points & 5 Stars)
Here's what Sam Kim said about the wine:
"Beautifully composed and splendidly complex, the wine shows crunchy apple, fresh fig, jalapeno and lemon peel characters with nuances of oatmeal and beeswax. The powerfully concentrated palate displays excellent focus and drive, combined with finely textured mouthfeel and bright acidity, finishing impressively long and engaging." (95 Points & 5 Stars).
